Pricey but worth it. Forget driving to the canyon - TAKE THE TRAIN. We were most fortunate to have Kathy with a K as our passenger service attendant (PSA)

Took the Grand Canyon Railway. Beautiful scenic route, with adorable "railway robbery" and banjo tunes. Gave a wonderful history of the area and recommended top notch eating! It was a delight to ride first class.

We booked a package with the train, but it was by far the best part of the vacation! We rode first class (large seats, no kids!) with Linda Lou. She was so sweet, knowledgeable, and entertaining! There was a mini buffet at the back of the car with refreshments for free, but the bar costs extra. There was a restroom and ladies lounge, as well as a cafe car where you could purchase additional snacks. The cars are meticulously maintained, and the whole experience is very historic- from the train station to the authentic cowboy shows. There is a cowboy show before boarding, and even a staged robbery on the train! Guitar players serenaded us on the way there and the way back. And Linda Lou knew the answer to every question she was asked, and then some! She was the perfect tour guide and told us where we needed to be once we got to the Grand Canyon. Such a great experience! Loved it!

I was woken up by the whistle of the most beautifull steamtrain I've ever seen! I did not know there was such a train there, so it was a big surprise!

A great value for the money. Short enough trip that the kids don't get bored. Trip includes hot chocolate, cookie and jingle bell gift. Seats were comfortable and it was very organized getting both on and off. I would recommend to families with kids under 12 years old.
