My dad and I had a great time here. We even got to see a brand new white bison calf! Amazing critters. It was nice to get out of the car at the end and walk around the beautiful grounds. It was peaceful and relaxing. The new construction looks to be something amazing and can't wait to return next year. Keep up the great work!
Based on all the great reviews we decided to give this a try. I have to say it was amazing. We were worried if we would see any wildlife or not and we were not disappointed!
The other portion of the zoo is a traditional walk through. You won't encounter as many animals as other zoos, but you will find them to be easily visible and active. There is also a petting zoo available with goats, chickens, ducks and a turkey that insists on being the center of everyone's attention.
If you don't want to use your own vehicle you can take a safari bus through. The ride is included in your admission and you will be treated to an in-depth narrative on not only each species, but nearly each individual creature in that species. Our guide, Angel, was very enthusiastic and you could tell she was very proud of each animal there.
My only complaint is to see the jaguar I had to walk through the gift shop and a restaurant. There was a bit of construction going on at the time so hopefully there will be a direct path to it that will bypass all that in the future.
Wonderful family fun. The drive through zoo was very cool, and the regular walk around zoo was also fun and cool. At the end they tease you quite a bit about the panther, a lady asked me when we were exiting "is there REALLY a panther? Oh yes, keep following the signs, in a huge enclosure at the end is the black panther with yellow eyes! Awesome!!
Keep going back! Love this place!!! On one trip, wolves chewed a hole in my mom's mobility scooter years ago. Found out on that trip my teen had a thing for wolves and led to some great conversation. Another trip yielded grizzly bears nuzzling the driver's side door. Amazing! Love it and look forward to sharing it with my guy this weekend. ♡♡♡
There are a few shows available, also included in your admission. One is an otter feeding, where visitors can feed them fish. The next is a bobcat feeding, where zookeepers will hide food in the exhibit and the bobcats will search for it. Lastly there is the Birds of Prey show, which was my favorite of the bunch. I experienced a silent flyby of assorted raptors grazing my head. You never know when it is coming!
Amazing experience and would recommend this place to anyone from a family packed SUV to single person passing through the area. So much to see and all in all an amazing experience.
There are a handful of zoos in Arizona and each manages to offer something the others do not. What makes Bearizona unique is the ability to drive through a portion of the zoo in your own vehicle and experience the animals up close. And when I say up close, I mean you may just find one climbing on your vehicle if you don't keep a steady pace!
We will return if we are ever in the area again!
What I really enjoyed about Bearizona was everything was included in the admission (except food and souvenirs). It didn't nickel-and-dime me for attractions and shows, and it doesn't have an identity crisis by putting in roller coasters and zip lines. It really is just a zoo and there's nothing bad about that at all.
